Ali Riaz
Ali Riaz is a political scientist and an author. He is a Distinguished Professor at the Department of Politics and Government at Illinois State University, USA, and a nonresident senior fellow of the Atlantic Council. Dr. Riaz is the President of the American Institute of Bangladesh Studies (AIBS).
Professor Riaz has been appointed on September 18, 2024 by the Interim Government of Bangladesh to lead the Constitution Reform Commission. A nine-member commission was announced on October 6, 2024.
As a political scientist, Riaz served as a Visiting Researcher at the Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) Institute in 2023 and a Public Policy Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars in 2013.
